Jeff Goldblum: The Board Must Choose Wisely
Jeff Goldblum: The Board Must Choose Wisely

Naturally it goes without saying that our esteemed Board of Directors need to give careful consideration on appointing a new Manager, as the saying goes 'act in haste and repent at leisure', and I'm quite sure that the less-than-astute installations of Lee Sinnott and Dean Glover are still fresh in their minds. I would hope so anyway.

I can quite imagine that people have great difficulty in understanding why a  Hollywood actor such as myself would take such an interest in a soccer team like Port Vale, but hey, we all have our little indulgences, and mine just happens to be this fantastic team from Stoke-On-Trent, England. What can I say? I took a bite and got hooked! William S Burroughs and his Junk addiction springs to mind.

Anyway, enough already of my digressions, the matter at hand is simple: We need a Manager with the balls to catapult us up a division and beyond. Someone with the flair and integrity befitting Port Vale Football Club. A true Valiant! Looking at the latest odds I see a whole bunch of guys that I, quite frankly, know Jack Zip about. Guys such as Kevin Blackwell, Paul Hart, Dave Penney, et al. Who are these people? What qualifies them to lead my Soccer team?

One name stands out for me. Consider, if you will, the term Valiant. Consider it's definitions; bold, brave, courageous, gallant, heroic, worthy. One man ecapsulates all the above, and he's a former Vale player. Gareth Ainsworth. For my Dollar the most awesome Wing-Zone Wide-Ball-Receiver in the history of Goddamm Soccer! Hell, this guy is Prince Valiant personified! I frickin' love him!  People may point at his lack of Managerial experience, but sometimes you've just gotta go with your gut instinct! I truly believe Gareth is the right man for us.

Happy New Year, and here's hoping for three points at Rotherham tomorrow!
