The Gannon Experiment continued it's spectactular, miserable failing yesterday as Vale slumped to a  1-0 defeat at Lincoln City. Gannon's run as Vale Gaffer now reads: Played 5, Won 0, Drawn 1, Lost 4. We have now failed to score in our last three games, and our one and only goal in four League games has come from the penalty spot. We have barely mustered a shot in anger during this horrific spell.

Our season has become a disturbing car crash, and I really don't see any end to it with the odious Gannon in charge. I've tried hard to resist any knee-jerk hysteria to these early days of the Gannon reign, I've wanted to remain objective and give him time to create his team and his way of playing, but I really do not have an iota of faith in this hideous waste of space.

Our football has become turgid, feeble and impotent. In the space of a few short weeks we have diminished from a team hot favourites for promotion, to one heading alarmingly towards mid-table mediocrity.

Yesterday, against a Lincoln side hovering just two points above relegation, we managed to register just one shot at goal, and this was deep into stoppage time. We have become a sorry mess. In terms of formations and tactics Gannon has proved himself to be masterly inept, and the sheer arrogance of the man is breath-takingly abhorrent. Once again, in his post match interview Gannon could see no fault in himself, scattering blame for our recent catastrophic performances at every other viable target.

The most depressing aspect of the Gannon Experiment? He's got an 18 month contract, and we cannot possibly buy him out of that. Not unless, of course, we had considerable investment, perhaps from a wealthy and successful local businessman, and where on Earth are we going to find one of them? Oh, hang on, we have...

On tuesday night we host an in-form Rotherham United. They humiliated us over Xmas, and may well do the same again. Black & Gold Until It's Sold...
