We are pleased to see the committee shares our view that substantive reform is required from the game's governing body, and we back the proposals for the restructuring of the FA Board.

We agree with a number of the Reports revised roles for the FA, including a restructuring of the FA Council and agree that club ownership procedures, such as club licensing and the fit and proper person test, need to be strengthened. We are strongly in favour of the FA overseeing the club licensing system in the professional game.

We welcome the recommendation of the review of the 50:50 divide of surplus revenues between the professional and national game at the FA. We hope that this will see more funding for grassroots projects, and agree that the national game should see more than 50% of surplus funds given the alternative sources of revenue available for the professional game.

We are happy to see the Report urges clubs to engage in more effective consultation with fans, as the FSF have long said that consultation and engagement with supporters is vital for the health of the game.

We join the Committee in asking the football authorities to respond to the Report positively with an agreed strategy and timetable for change. We would be in favour of a public debate on many of the issues raised in the Report, and would advocate they take into account the views of supporters, as one of the game's key stakeholders, in that process.

It's important to remember that the Report focuses on the structures in place within the game, and not the people involved. While not every stakeholder will agree with all of the Committee's recommendations, it is pleasing to note that the problems in the game, as highlighted by many industry figures in their evidence to the Committee, have now been laid out. We look forward to working with the Government, the FA, the Premier League and Football League to ensure that changes are made to improve our game.
