Another day, another goalkeeper as Steve Eyre has added David Lucas to his ranks with the former PNE keeper joining in a player / coach capacity.

It is widely expected that Lucas's role at the club will be predominantly that of a goalkeeping coach, whilst providing back up to highly rated Jake Kean who joined the club on Tuesday.

Lucas had spent most of his career up in the North, notably at Preston with his twelve months at Swindon being his only spell in the Southern half of the country.

Despite having twelve months left on his contract at Swindon, he had asked for a transfer to return back up North, and he was released from that contract this week to sign for Dale.

Lucas has been given shirt number 23.
