December Is Time To Apply Some Pressure.

Saints have a perfect opportunity to turn the screw in the promotion race.

After coming through November with 12 points from the 5 games, Saints now have the chance to really put some pressure on the chasing pack during December.

This is the month that usually filters out a few of the also rans from the maybe's and definately maybe's as the games come thick and fast over the Xmas period, I have stated elsewhere we are 13 wins from the premiership and now we have a great chance to knock off a big chunk of them.

The trip to Doncaster wont be easy, Bristol City showed us that, however if we want promotion this is the sort of game we have to go and win and win well, follow that up with a home win against Blackpool who are starting to fade a little and that sets us up nicely for the trip to Pompey, on paper this should be second only to Doncaster in potential easiness of win, however its a local derby and tensions will be running high especially due to their latest financial meltdown, we might have to settle for a point.

We then finish the month off with two winnable home fixtures against Palace and then a chance for revenge against Bristol City.

With the likes of leicester and West Ham all likely to spend big in January in an attempt to force themselves back into the Premier, the transfer window is going to be key for all clubs involved, thats why December is so important to Saints we need to extend that gap with this opportunity before the cheque books come out.

Winning all six games would not be impossible but it would be a tall order, if we did we would be within sniffing distance of automatic promotion, but the reality is probably that we wont, again the target should be two points a game, keep up this ratio and it makes it hard for our rivals, West Ham aside none of whom have managed that average yet, indeed cardiff at 1.78 is the best of the rest.

Without wanting to sound arrogant or complacent, a look at the December fixtures then the league table tells you that this is really a month that we are quite capable of going though unbeaten, certainly on form we should do, put this into practice and we can go into the new year and the second half of the season with extreme confidence.
