An AFC Totton supporter takes a look at how his Club suddenly finds itself in the middle of an FA Cup frenzy

AFC Totton cannot believe what is happening to them at the moment. They have beaten 5 sides already in the FA Cup, if they had been a Premier League or Championship side they would be in the Semi final by now.

This Sunday the Stags are at home to an established football league club in Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup 2nd round. To put this in perspective two years ago Saints themselves met Bristol Rovers away in the first round of the FA Cup and Rovers were visitors to St Mary's in the league as recently as April. The Testwood Stadium as a result has become a busy place since the balls came out of the hat pairing them up with Rovers.

Its one thing for a level 3 non league club to be in the 2nd round anyway and its something dreams are made of to be drawn at home to an established football league club it couldn’t get any better than that could it…..well, yes, actually it can! the tie has been selected for live TV coverage.

So not only have The Stags got the chance to pull off an FA Cup upset but they have the chance to do it in front of millions of TV viewers right across the UK and beyond. This brings the bonus of £72.000 TV money….its incredible, absolutely incredible!. Everybody at The Testwood Stadium are having to pinch themselves to believe its all happening.

ITV are bringing out the big guns for this one, Clive Tyldesley and Jim Beglin will be commentating and Andy Townsend and Gareth Southgate will be doing the punditry at the pitch side with . ITV are taking over half of the Testwood Stadium car park, they are already erecting scaffolding in the stadium for the TV cameras and they have a large fleet of lorries and vehicles coming early on Sunday.  As I said the Totton staff can hardly take it all in.

Totton as a town has really caught the FA Cup bug, most Totton pubs will be showing the game. The tie will be a sell out as well, the 2344 tickets will be snapped up by the time you read this. Only one question remains. Can The Mighty Stags cause a shock?  If they do you can’t comprehend how the club staff and fans will react……Saints at St Mary’s or Manchester United away anyone?……….Jeez think about that!

I'll be there. I am a Saints season ticket holder but attend all Totton home matches when Saints are away. They were absolutely incredible against Bradford PA in the last round.
