It's In Our Hands Now

It's In Our Hands Now

We now approach the mid season and we can now start to see how, where and when the points may come for us and as much as the Vetch is a fortress, we must surely look away from the Vetch, and the sound of a raucous Jack Army on their travels, that comes clearer and sharper in the mind. The second half of the season will see us play a tougher schedule at the Vetch than we will away from the old lady and so here is where the future lies. Every side will get their poor run of form, Hull are in the middle of theirs and some argue that we are in ours as well, if so then so be it. Yeovil and Donny and Oxford and Mansfield will all struggle at some point this season and the clamber of 'oh no we are letting them getting away" is a bit premature. We are in a good position its now our time to stand up and SHOUT the lads home to the finish line. Our remaining home fixtures are tough but NO-ONE will relish coming here and it is up to us too make sure they have as much of a nasty, horrible noisy welcome as we can give them. However we are due to play most of the better sides at the Vetch and we should allow for some defeats (some of them from unexpected sources) but we can surely target Southend, Cheltenham, Rochdale, Carlisle et al to gain maximum points and so a Home record of W13 D6 L4 will haul us 45pts This brings us too the games away from the Vetch where we will come across most of the play off targeting teams and lower ranked sides this is where our best work must be done. Therefore the likes of Darlo, Kidderminster, Southend, Macca and others must be targeted for all 3 pts and I can foresee an Away record of W10 D5 L8 hauling in 35pts This would give us 80pts in total and a superb chance of automatic promotion. With the top 8 sides very much, a much of a muchness, the eventual Champions will not haul a huge number of points, but 80 pts will guarantee play offs and EVERY LAST MAN AND JACK would have settled for that at the start of this season. Last season in January, Jacks from all parts of the globe gathered together and rose as one to shout the lads on to victories where none expected them. It is now a month earlier that these very same Jacks rise up and do the same thing but this time its for a prize far more important and bigger than before. DO NOT GO ALONG WITH THE DOOM MONGERS, WE ARE IN A FANTASTIC POSITION TO MOVE FORWARD AND ITS TIME THAT THE NEWER MEMBERS OF THE SQUAD (the ones not here last season) GOT TO HEAR US AND HAVE THE HAIRS ON THE BACK OF THEIR NECKS STAND UP WITH PRIDE There is no-one in this division that we should fear, most are frightened of playing us rather than the other way around and its up to us too confirm those fears of others. There are some very smug managers out there in this division and a few smiles on the back of their faces would be most welcome from now on. The squad is nearly back to full strength (no one should be rushed back now) and we can move forward again. Forget the nonsense of heavy pitches and rain will spoil the promotion bid, this squad of players is good enough to do the job In 1977/78 after 20 matches (using the 3pts for a win) we were on effectively 29pts we are on course to better that total. 2004 will see a new stadium and a new era and now is not the time to be pessimistic. Lets enjoy the team and enjoy singing them to glory INFINITY AND BEYOND Watch
