Here We Go!

It would be easy to mention S o at this point but its time to concentrate on the football and let all the political shananigins deal with itself, there will be many more occasions in the future when S make a decision that is not universally approved. So where are we in terms of players well it would have been nicer to get a couple more in and already we will have one of the largest squads in the League, quality is definitely the way to go though and one good one will beat 3 ordinary ones any day of the week. The most positive for me is the attacking options we now have and with arguably up to 6 players (I include Robinson in this although his appearance will be delayed as he is currently in training camp in the Appalachian Mountains for his next title fight) we really should not be dependant on LT this season.

LT, Conner, Goodfellow, Akinfenwa, Forbes and The Scouse Tommy Farr give us a wide range of flair that are able to unlock many a closed door. For me 4 players are vital for us this year and in no particular order but starting in defence we have Gueret this is for me the most important one for us. He must not have a one good season most French players are notorious for one good season and then fading, already in Pre Season Big Willy has conceded sloppy goal against Blackburn and Fulham, he needs to stay fit and focused for us if he does I can see another good season ahead. Secondly Monk he is the general for me and already we should be looking to extend his contract and making him club captain after Roberto goes back to Spain at the end of this season. He must play as many games as he can this season he is the one in which the other back four players will mould around. He is quiet and unassuming but his class should shine though this season. Midfield of course is the one area where we all think is the weakest link and with Anne Robinson suspended for the first 3 months of the season thanks to the ever generous FAW the possibly best forward signing in ages, OTJ, is all set to force his way into being a first team regular. At 15st and 10 foot 6 he is the type of player KJ loves and because of this I think he will surprise a few people. Andy King is a good spotter of talent and to nick him away from under his nose is no mean feat. I expect 25+ games from him this season and will be the surprise package of 2005/2006. This of course leads on to up front and no doubt all eyes will be on LT this for me is not the key this year. Mr Goodfellow is for my reckoning going to be the one to slice open the opposition with his pace and vision. We have already seen glimpses in his short spells with us that he does provide the essential balance and pace on the left hand side. It will be nice to see opposition defences look out for another creative player other than LT and this augurs well for the upcoming campaign. Like most fans any sense of impending underachievement in the pre season gets lost in all the excitement of the new season. In KJ we have one of the hottest properties in British Football and he has more than one cookie in the biscuit tin unlike JH did. He will ensure that the squad are motivated and fit and just like last year he will not be afraid to upset and baffle us in equal measure. When he does just shrug the shoulders and go 'that's our Ken that is' SCFC have stumbled across a good one long may he reign. The first win at WR is important and hopefully this will duly arrive on Saturday a crowd of 15k+ will surely be on hand to see the lads home. A tough start and one which will give us an excellent insight on how many more players will be brought in this season. I am going for the Play Offs this season, purely because no one has stood up and said we are favourites. The external pressure is off and the players can relax more this season. Many a shrewd judge will look and are already looking at us with more than a passing interest. We've memories from the Ancient Gods Blessed Watch
