Brentford were easy winners on their travels to Scunthorpe, whilst League One leaders Swansea could only draw at Tranmere.

James Goodwin had given Scunthorpe the lead in only the 8th minute but just three minutes later and Martin Allen's side were level through Darren Pratley.

The same player gave The Bees the lead in the 24th minute before Paul Brooker (52) sealed an impressive 3-1 win in the second period.

Port Vale claimed an excellent win over high-flying Southend as they triumphed 2-1 at Vale Park.

Leon Constantine in the 18th minute and Michael Husband in the 55th saw Vale take control, with Jay Smith scoring a consolation in the final minute.

Promotion contenders Barnsley were far too strong for strugglers Swindon as they won 3-0 on their travels, with Martin Devaney (8) and Chris Shuker (51 & 69) doing the damage.

Walsall's highly rated young striker Matty Fryatt netted a brace as Walsall beat Rotherham 3-1 on home soil.

Will Hoskinsscored a consolation for Mick Harford's out-of-form Millers, but Portuguese striker Jorge Leitao sealed an impressive win with 20 minutes remaining.

Oldham completed a double over Yeovil on their travels as a brace from in-form Paul Warne (39 & 82)ensured a 2-0 success.

Gillingham were thumped 5-0 by Colchester as Greg Halford and Jamie Cureton ran riot at Layer Road.

Halford opened the scoring in the 32nd minute but it was in the second half that the floodgates opened, as Halford again found the scoresheet in the 52nd minute.

Cureton grabbed a quickfire brace (54 & 66) before Wayne Brown added gloss to a polished display with 20 minutes remaining.

Chesterfield will be disappointed not to have seen off Blackpool, afterSammy Clingan gave them an eight minute lead.

On-loan midfield Gary Harkins continued his own good form as he found Blackpool's equaliser in the 58th minute.

Bournemouth were too strong for Milton Keynes Dons as Steven Foley and Stephen Cooke registered in a 2-0 win, whilst Mark Tinkler was Hartlepool's match winner at Bradford.

Bristol City's miserable form continued at Doncaster as they went down 2-0 - with former player Paul Heffernan (5) and James Coppinger (68) on target.

Nottingham Forest failed to win again away from home again, this time at Huddersfield, as they went down 2-1.

First half goals from Danny Schofield and Andy Booth ensured Huddersfield's victory, while Jack Lester's goal a minute after the break was mere consolation.
