We're Behind You Andy

We're Behind You Andy

It was with some disbelief that there were messages at the start of the week stating that we should boo Andy Robinson for not agreeing with the club over contract talks. There was much discussion from people that Robbo should never pull on the shirt again and that if he did they would boo him every time he touched the ball. Those of us that said it would be counter productive were shouted down.

Thankfully the talk of the booing seems to have subsided and if, as seems likely, Robbo lines up in the opening game of the season then he should have the full backing o the Jack Army as he will clearly have the backing of his fellow players and his manager.

Andy Robinson remains a Swansea City player now and hopefully for some time to come. I get a gut feeling that the contract issue may resolve itself at some stage in the future and therefore he may stay a Swansea City player for longer than we currently think. And while he is a Swansea City player he will be an integral part of our side and one deserves our support.

Robbo himself says "Hopefully the fans will be cheering on whoever puts the shirt on this Saturday because what matters is that the club gets the right result," he said. "Swansea City is much more important than any one player.

"If I get stick I get stick, but at the end of the day I'm a Swansea player and having a go at me could have a knock-on effect on the rest of the team, so hopefully it won't happen.

"You've seen in the pre-season friendlies the respect I've got for the fans," he added. "I love this place and they know full well that come Saturday, Andy Robinson will pull that shirt on and wear it with pride. I'll be putting in 110 per cent and hopefully I can put on a show for them. "I've sat down with the gaffer and said that as soon as I'm on the training ground or the pitch, the contract talks are forgotten. "When I step over the white line on Saturday, I'll be committed to the cause and fighting to get the club off to a winning start."

And Boss Kenny Jackett has brushed aside talk of Robinson coming under attack from home stands. "I can't really comment on what people might be saying on the internet," he said. "All I can say is that I've found Andy's attitude during pre-season to be very good. "He's been very professional, he's worked hard and he's shown very good quality. "He has shown no signs of letting the contract situation affect his football and it's never crossed my mind not to pick him." Jackett added: "Really my focus is on the team rather than any individual, and I'm sure Andy's focus will be on helping us get three points too. "That's all that will interest me come Saturday afternoon."

And to be perfectly honest Kenny that is all that interests us at the moment - 100% behind Swansea City as we strap up for the latest ride on the Swans rollercoaster.
