Home Draw At Last For Swans

Home At Last For Swans

Swansea City have been handed their first home FA Cup draw in 11 attempts should they get past Horsham in their 2nd round replay on Tuesday week.

However, it was not the draw that either us or Horsham would have wanted - the winners will face Havant & Waterlooville who knocked out Notts County yesterday afternoon. In fairness it is not what the opponents wanted either as the Swans missed the chance to test themselves against the Premiership's elite. However, what the draw does do is to give us an excellent chance of progression to Round 4 when the chances of a plum draw dramatically increase once again.

It is the third non league opposition in a row for the Swans - Billericay were beaten 2-1 before the Horsham game and it represents their first home draw since they beat Preston 2-1 in Round 4 back in 2004.

The tie will take place on the weekend of January 5 2008.

FA Cup third round draw:

Preston v Scunthorpe Port Vale/Chasetown v Cardiff Colchester v Peterborough Bolton v Sheffield United Blackburn v Coventry Brighton v Mansfield Northampton/Walsall v Millwall Charlton v West Brom Watford v Crystal Palace Luton/Nottingham Forest v Liverpool Plymouth v Hull Aston Villa v Manchester United Tranmere v Hereford Tottenham v Reading Burnley v Arsenal Bristol City v Middlesbrough Fulham v Bristol Rovers Huddersfield v Birmingham Horsham/Swansea v Havant & Waterlooville Sunderland v Wigan Oxford/Southend v Dagenham & Redbridge Everton v Oldham Derby v Sheffield Wednesday Southampton v Leicester West Ham v Manchester City Ipswich v Portsmouth Wolves v Cambridge Barnsley v Blackpool Chelsea v QPR Stoke v Newcastle Swindon v Burton Albion/Barnet Norwich v Bury

Ties to be played on 5/6 January>
