Guillem Bauza believes that he can carry on his pre-season form into the new campaign

Fitness doubts over both Jason Scotland and Gorka Pintado have placed Bussy very much at the front of the queue for the new season although there was an argument that he was there already having notched ten goals in pre-season as well as some crucial goals at the back end of the last campaign.

And it now seems almost certain that he will lead the line at Charlton next weekend especially having played the lone striker role against West Brom yesterday - a line up expected to give much away about the plans for next Saturday.

And Bauza is ready for that challenge if it comes his way as he told today's News of the World "I'm happy with my form and can't wait for the new season to start.  I think I have set down a marker in pre-season and I want to play as many games as I can.

"Pre-season is about getting ready for when the season starts.  As a striker, that means scoring goals.  I can't do more than that and hopefully I will be able to take that form into the new season.

"I have worked my socks off this summer to improve on last season.   It's going to be a big step up in quality but I have full faith in my ability and hopefully I can keep on scoring."
