Wales legend Neville Southall believes that Swansea will hold their own in the Championship this season

Southall was looking forward to the new Championship season in a Wales on Sunday column and seemed to be reasonably praiseful of Swansea's chances this season.

Southall also believes that there is a danger that Roberto could continue to attract the interest of other clubs - he has previously been linked with Wigan and Blackburn together with the assistant's job at Manchester United - and Nev says that he hasn't been given the credit he deserves for his transfer dealings.

Southall said "I think they will hold their own.

"It may take them and manager Roberto Martinez time to adjust but he seems very switched on, he knows what he is doing and what he wants

"I don't think he'#s been given the credit he deserved for his shrewdness in the transfer market.  He knows the Spanish market and has done his homework and bought players who have adapted - it could have gone very wrong

"There is always the danger that if he is too successful, Swansea will lose him to a bigger club.  That's football, though he has stayed at the Liberty so far.  On the field, if they follow the examples of Colchester two years ago and Bristol City last season they may even avoid getting into trouble.

"Both these newly promoted teams enjoyed excellent startrs to the season and were never in trouble afterwards.   If the Swans can consolidate, then there's no reason why they can't push on next season."
