Watford Take Sting Out Of Swans Play-Off Charge
Watford Take Sting Out Of Swans Play-Off Charge

Swansea City's play-off charge has suffered a blow after losing 2-0 to Watford at Vicarage Road this evening.

Roberto Martinez rang the changes from the side that were held to a 1-1 draw against premiership outfit Fulham on Saturday. Albert Serran made his second championship appearance of the season after starting in place of Angel Rangel. Midfielder Mark Gower also dropped to the bench as Tom Butler was drafted into the starting 11.

Despite a good start to the game for Swansea City it would be Watford who would take the lead after the Hornets broke quickly down the flank on 23 minutes as Tommy Smith laid the ball to the awaiting Tamas Priskin who coolly fired past Dorus De Vries. It would be Smith who would turn from provider to goalscorer just under ten minutes later when the Vicarage Road's top scorer beat the Dutchman from range.

The Swans could not mount a fightback and rarely threatened Scott Loach in the Watford goal.
