The Swans home pre season started with a 2-0 win over Scottish cup winners Celtic at the Liberty

REPORT - The Scotsmal

CELTIC'S friendly fixtures finally came to an end last night, and it was a disappointing conclusion for Neil Lennon's men as they lost out to English Premier League newcomers Swansea.

Angel Rangel and Stephen Dobbie scored in the second half to give the Welsh side a morale-boosting win over a strong Celtic side. Defender Rangel coolly volleyed home after Dominic Cervi failed to deal with a low shot, before Dobbie's controlled shot capped an encouraging night for Brendan Rodgers' side.

Leroy Lita made his Swansea bow off the bench, while fellow new boys Danny Graham and Steven Caulker were handed home debuts from the start against a Celtic side which included the likes of first-team regualrs Scott Brown and Gary Hooper.

Moments before kick-off, Swansea boy John Hartson was paraded on the pitch, with the former Celtic striker given a rousing reception from both sets of supporters.

The hosts started confidently although Hooper, denied by trialist goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel, and Kris Commons went close for Celtic.

Hooper's opportunity came on 14 minutes when Georgios Samaras chested the ball down in front of the box and made a turning pass back to Hooper. The onrushing striker hit a first-touch shot but couldn't keep it on target from 24-yards out.

Commons came close four minutes later, making a run in from the right and unleashing an effort which was heading for the top corner. Tremmel, however, punched it over the bar to keep the scoreline even.

Swansea's Scott Sinclair then got the ball stuck under his feet while bearing down on goal at the other end before Graham headed into the side-netting as half-time approached.

Brown tried to get the visitors moving shortly before the break. After getting into an off-the-ball tussle with Kemy Agustein, the Celtic captain unleashed his frustration by hitting a powerful effort towards goal on 35 minutes but his shot was deflected out for a corner.

The Swans made just one change at the break, with summer signing Moreira getting his first taste of the Liberty after he replaced Tremmel.

Celtic, too, made a change with Victor Wanyama coming on for Daniel Majstorovic in defence.

Nathan Dyer failed to get a shot away in time after linking with Rangel, while Samaras dragged an effort wide after holding off a couple of defenders in the Swansea box early in the second period.

Rangel broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute, volleying home after Cervi failed to hold a low Sinclair free-kick.

Samaras had an effort ruled out for offside but substitute Dobbie sealed the win as he drove home from the edge of the box with seven minutes to play.
