The Refreshing Views Of A Manager
The Refreshing Views Of A Manager

Sometimes you watch your team get dicked 5-0 and the frustration is compounded by a manager claiming you were unlucky or bemoaning a bad decision but this is Swansea City and our manager says it as it is.

Previously when reading or listening to a manager's after match comments I question if I have watched the same game or indeed wondered whether the manager has indeed lost his marbles as some comments tend to suggest.

But Michael Laudrup's honest assessment of the hammering at Anfield actually reduces the pain that a five-goal defeat inevitably brings. Don't get me wrong it doesn't make it seem irrelevant but it highlights that the manager is not afraid to call it as it is and you know that the players have been left in no doubt about what is expected of them and what is not acceptable.

"it could have been 10" said the Swansea manager ref, ecting on Liverpool's Premier League season high total of 35 shots on goal and he was shouldering the blame totally even he said it starts with him.

Probably more damming was his comments about learning for the future which would surely indicate that the end of the road is there for some although I mention no names at thus pont as the manager has clearly stated it's not good enough.

There were no comments of 'my group of players are doing well' or how 'triffic' the performance was just an honest assessment of an afternoon that simply didn't come close to the high expectations we set for ourselves.

It is always a long trip home after a result like that but I now make it in the knowledge that at least the manager feels the pain like we do and that can only ever be a good thing
