You guys sounded as perplexed and exasperated as everyone else about last night. Not a good start for our new head coach, who seems to have misjudged the whole shebang and left us with more question marks than answers heading into next week. Not a good way to settle fans nerves ahead of the new season.

When we're buying players the calibre of Bednarek and Hojbjerg and managers of the calibre of Puel and Pellegrino, new players and managers aren't going to improve things anyway. We need to upgrade our current recruitment team before letting them loose in the transfer market with any money. Tha man we need to bring back is our former head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell to replace Reed.

Just when you think things couldn't get any worse........the Echo is reporting that Eisner has completed his takeover of the Skates.

Ths post by 'Dusic' on Saintsweb shows what's going wrong. Since our Head of Recruitment, Paul Mitchell left andReed eplaced him with Ross Wilson, we have been utterly clueless in the transfer market and, to make things worse, have made mediocre managerial and coaching appointments: Last 10 Signings Bednarek Hassen Caceres Gabbiadini Boufal Hojbjerg Redmond McCarthy Pied Taylor If that doesn't sum up where we are(and the direction we are going) then what does? Max of three of those make our best XI. Only one good, young British player. Too many obvious squad fillers. Out of interest, last 10 sales for a fee are: Jay Rod Mane Pelle Wanyama Fonte Juanmi Schneiderlin Clyne Cork

Was it Paul Mitchell personally dirk_doone or was he just lucky to have good scouts around Europe who themselves might have been poached in the meantime? A chain is only as strong as one link, to change the metaphor. I doubt many clubs gave any credence to the Black Box bull shine anyway and if Les really did believe his own rhetoric then he was even more deluded than many of us thought.

Who decides if Les is doing a good enough job or not at recruitment?

whilst on the subject of signings.we now hear that Poch wants to buy Gazzaninga (!) For someone who (IMHO) was a poor substitute buy when we couldn't sign Jack Butland , PG's career with Saints almost falls into the Tommy Forecast category. If true (?)... and he goes to Spurs , then perhaps it'll be some form of " payback" .

@underweststand. Gazzaniga has improved since he escaped from the coaching of Dave Watson, who seems to be able to ruin even the best goalkeepers's careers. Look waht he did to Joe Hart, Forster and the rest of our club's goalkeepers.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Port Vale Polls |
