Burton On Tuesday Night
Burton On Tuesday Night

Beer, Paddy Considine, Marmite and Indie space rockers. Vale make the short trip along the A50 on Tuesday evening to face Burton Albion. Burton are currently 13th in the table and have lost three of their last four games, including yesterdays 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield.

So, what has Burton-Upon-Trent given the world? Beer. And lots of it. Marston - and their wonderful pedigree - Coors brewery, who produce Carling and Worthys, plus a couple of local 'micro' breweries. Marmite? Yep, the Marmite factory can be found in Burton.

The utterly fantastic Paddy Considine, who has starred in a couple of Shaun Meadows humdingers - A Room For Romeo Brass and Dead Mans Shoes - was born in Burton, and the hugely underrated indie band The Telescopes, who released some amazing stuff in the late 80's and early 90's, were also residents of Burton - To Kill A Slow Girl Walking, Precious Little, Everso, Celeste, Flying - Just some of their killer tracks which the general public chose to ignore. I'm impressed with Burton.

We have to go into this game chasing the three points, and I'd like to see us keep the 3-5-2 formation that served us so well against Crewe yesterday. Anthony Griffith will obviously miss the game after his sending off, so expect to see Tommy Fraser step into the midfield. Doug Loft was excellent ,and should keep Sean Rigg on the bench. Hopefully we'll get the opportunity to see new loan signing Jake Speight, albeit coming off the bench, more than likely for Justin Richards.

My Vale eleven:- Stuart Tomlinson, Adam Yates, Gareth Owen, John McCombe, Lee Collins, Doug Loft, Tommy Fraser, Gary Roberts, Louis Dodds, Marc Richards, Justin Richards.

The game at The Pirelli Stadium kicks off at 7.45pm. Next Saturday it's the 1st Round of The FA Cup, and a trip to Dartford. Wembley beckons...
