Do a Duckett? Joe Root's first test win on Aussie soil*, Jacob Bethell wins playing his first test there Let's make it 3-2 * and Ben Stokes, though he's not been on as many tours there [Post edited 27 Dec 11:50]

I was very lucky to be there today and was one of my best days at a cricket match. In reality, you don't want too many pitches like that in test cricket, where in every over in the 2 days2 days it seemed that 2 balls had someones name one it. However for pure potential heart stopping nerve jangling drama it was unbelievable. I went down with the barmy army when there was just 17 runs needed with 5 wickets remaining, and yet we suddenly lost 2 more. We got over the line, we have lost the series 3-1 and yet it felt like we had won the worlds cup!! shouldn't paper over the many cracks that appeared over the 4 matches, but finally a day we can really enjoy, and now look to move forward.I am expecting us to to put in a performance at home in the ashes in 18 months but who knows???

| Th'Ashes Down Under on 12:22 - Dec 27 with 498 views | D_Alien | Reading some of the post-match comments from players, the impact of Crawley's straight six hitting the LED boards in the fourth over meant the seam was softened up to lessen the swing which was causing all the havoc Apparently, it's a tactic recognised in white-ball cricket and it came off. If Crawley's shot had miscued and he'd been dismissed, he'd have been vilified, but sometimes these things work and on this occasion - along with sending out Carse at no.3 to have a blast and further soften the seam, even for just a short while - meant that Bethell came in under more favourable conditions and it's his 40 which took the heat out of the chase [Post edited 27 Dec 12:23]

I believe so. Two days of refunds for a full house on both days.
| Th'Ashes Down Under on 15:48 - Dec 27 with 358 views | isitme | As an England supporter you would be pretty annoyed to fly out and see no play due to the pitch being a lottery. Tongue had a good test and Bethell played a good innings to guide the chase almost home. Pope's second innings average would suggest he would not have been able to do the same. | | | |

Pope's catch on the boundary when he came on as sub fielder was, j hope, his last action in an England shirt
