An utterly dreadful game summed up perfectly Clive. Only Madsen seemed to distinguish between our kit an theirs, as he would get his head up and actually try to pass to a teammate rather than just playing into random spaces! My worry is these players are gonna burn out Kone, Madsen, Dunne, Mbengue, RND - unlikely to be replaced for Tuesday - can they do another 80/90 mins again and again on Saturday? - Dunne probably yes as he’s all heart - not sure the others can …. Morgan to start in the middle v Oxford in a 3 for me - rotate Kone / Kohli as a lone striker- maybe even give good old Sam a go in midfield as he was excellent at Oxford last season… Big plus from the game - Joe Walsh. Solid. Everything stuck in - no spills, no dramas - one double fisted punch when I’d like to see him catch it but apart from that- exemplary. 9/10 - ( he sometimes reminds me of David Seaman when he first came from Birmingham- but needs games like his last 2 regularly- please don’t drop him just for sake of it on Tuesday or Saturday ffs !!! ) As for the ref- he was like half the “faithful” in Traitors - embarrassing himself by guessing and looking like a complete bell end - I’d love him to watch that game back and realise just how bad he was - but I doubt he will…. |

Great report as always matey !! Personally I was happy with a point by the end as I see we had 2 centre midfielders in both full back positions- why not bring Morrison in for “the box of frogs” and shuffle Dunne across rather than play Kieran out of his natural position again… Mbengue was injured when he came out for the second half - and on his usual yellow card - to keep him on was Sunday league at best - Favourite comment though has to be “haircut done by the council” still making me laugh now 🤣🤣 |
 | News Comment | QPR continue to slide as Saints set off on new march – Report at 03:40:47
For me - the problem on Wednesday was tempo. Until they scored their second we did things far too slowly and looked like we were missing a number 9 - Smyth, though good defensively, wasted a number of opportunities when set free on the right and we couldn’t get Koki in the game at all. Once they went 2-0 up, we started doing things quickly, throw ins, free kicks - Morgan came on and put in snappy forward passes- something Varanne seems incapable of- and Kone pushed their centre backs back 10/15 more yards. Start with this tempo and the game would’ve been won by halftime. Agree about the ref, excellent. Not sure of the answers for Saturday- Hayden in for Varanne, maybe Morgan for Madsen who looks tired and like we’re overdependent on him being the forward passer in the middle ( perhaps he needs a break ) - oh and someone tell Dembele if someone runs off you like that - pull their shirt to stop them if necessary- it’s what Southampton did to him and that free kick in their half for us ended back at Nardi’s feet for some strange reason! The tinkerman keeps tinkering with the side - a new left back on Saturday due to RND not being allowed to play, Kone back on to start ( maybe a rest for Burrell ) Hayden back in for sure - 4 or 5 changes coming in yet again methinks COYRS- let’s go into the next international break with a win ffs ! …. |
