QPR v Preston Betting Preview

Brian picked up £50 on the David Haye farce to leave him with a £5 profit for the week that boosted him to £21.36 for the season. Andy made a fiver too by backing the draw at Forest and getting a refund on another bet so he's at £21.50.

The Aussie sporting world is crumbling according to a report I read last week. However beware of a wounded animal - the Aussie cricketers haven't had the best of times recently and will want to regain the Ashes. England have not won a series down under since 86/87 and I fancy them to draw and retain the urn at 5/1 with Jimmy Anderson the bet for top wicket taker in the series and is worth a pop at 8/1.

Under fire Fergie Jnr comes to HQ with his Preston side bottom of the league, in the past we have rolled over in games like this. Are Neil and the lads different from other squads? I think so and will got for a 3-1 win. As we don't know if Jamie will be striker, midfield, defender or goalie the 6/1 for him to score first is not great. I will go for Gorkks at 25/1 as at least I know what I am getting.

I will stick with Rebecca Curtis horse Black Jack Blues in the 2.35 at Ascot at 33/1 each way and will finish with the normal footie bets and I hope our interest lasts longer than Audley Harrison.

For the weekend:

£15 Ashes series to be s draw 5/1

£10 Anderson to be top wicket taker 8/1

£7.50 QPR to beat Preston 3-1 11/1

£5 Gorkks first goal 25/1

£2.50 e/w Black Jack blues 2.35 Ascot 33/1

£2 trebles and a £2 acca

Burnley 7/4

Oldham 17/10

Sheffield Wed 2/1

Bit of a mixed bag last week - the draw came in for £25, and i got a refund on the Taarabt bet as no goals were scored, but i was a little disappointed with my accumulator - both the Leeds and Scunny games were well over 2.5 goals, but somehow, despite Blackpool seeing more goals in their matches than any another team, West Ham vs Blackpool drew a blank.

Also, I received some 'inside information' that Haye was aiming for a 3rd round knock-out (hey look at me, I'm Mr ITK!), typically i received this after i'd sent my copy to Clive for the week, so no dice for the betting column unfortunately. I did pass this information onto my girlfriend who won £20 as a result - i reckon that should count, right Clive?!)

So this week we're at home to Preston, who are bottom of the league. makes a change to play a team that aren't either in the playoffs or coming into a rich vein of form to be honest... we really should be winning this game, so I'm going back to my tried and tested win to nil bet, available at a 7/4 on Betfair. Bizarrely it's odds on that both teams will score in this game, which I believe sets up some very good laying options on that particular market, as the statistics would suggest that QPR will keep a clean sheet against Preston.

In terms of first goalscorer, i'm going to go with everyone's favourite Moroccan to score first, available at 7/1 with SkyBet. I'm not going to go with Stan James this week for the first goalscorer, as I can't see this game ending goal-less, so their money back if goal less promo is not worth going for, especially as their odds are inferior to SkyBet's.

There's a fairly interesting stat for the Premier League game between West Brom and Stoke - they only have three clean sheets between them this season - that's 26 games. you can get 6/5 that both teams will score, and 6/5 that it will go over 2.5 goals. Let's stick a fiver on both of these markets, seeing as the odds are the same...

Finally, the weekly accumulator, and i'm going to stay with my over 2.5 goals accumulator, plumping for Man U vs Wigan, Watford vs Reading, Norwich vs Leeds and Celtic vs Dundee Utd, with £10 worth 74.70

For the Weekend:

QPR to Win to Nil - £10 @ 7/4 (Betfair)

Taarabt to score first £5 @ 7/1 (SkyBet)

West Brom vs Stoke - both teams to score - £5 @ 6/5 (Betfair)

West Brom vs Stoke - over 2.5 goals - £5 @ 6/5 (Betfair)

4 fold accumulator - Man U vs Wigan, Watford vs Reading, Norwich vs Leeds and Celtic vs Dundee Utd all over 2.5 goals £10 @ 7.47 (Betfair)
