Clough Circling For Seagulls Striker Glenn Murray?

Now that Tom Glick has suggested the Rams might wave around the cheque book a bit, Derby will become a regular part of the transfer rumour pages. The latest offering is Brighton’s 20 goal super striker Glenn Murray.

Having already scored 20 goals this season and a total of 51 in 113 appearances for the Seagulls since 2008, it seems various Championship clubs are circling.

Gus Poyet’s team seem destined for promotion from League One but despite that success Derby and Millwall are ready to pounce for Murray.

Brighton Hove-Albion sit 13 points clear on top of League 1 but it seems he may be looking to join a more established Championship club than one just entering the league.

With Murray’s current contract running out at season’s end, the 27 year old has already rejected a new deal earlier this year and negotiations have reportedly ground to a halt.

Murray has been a major factor in Poyet’s masterplan this season and he would desperately want to keep hold of the player. But with constant rumours about job offers for Poyet himself, there is no guarantee either will be at the Gulls next campaign.

And again if no new contract can be agreed upon then Tom Glick’s new favourite word would come into play.

Yes that’s right…. Nigel could sign Murray on a ‘Bosman’!

Nothing like a free transfer to warm the cockles of a chief executive’s heart.

When asked about recent transfer rumours Clough was giving little away:

"There is going to be a lot of speculation about targets. But let's get safe in the Championship and then we will try to get some deals done."

I can't argue with that Nigel - my mother always said 'safety first'!!
