Saturday Night's Alright For Winning
There is one run that has gone unnoticed.
Amazingly its been over six months since Saints have dropped a point on a Saturday fixture, you have to go back to February 5th and our 4-4 draw with Peterborough for the last time Saints failed to win on a Saturday fixture, indeed you have to go back to the 22nd January for the last time they lost a league fixture on a Saturday and that remains Saints only League defeat on a Saturday of 2011.
We have of course lost games in this period, but Tranmere aside all our defeats in the league in 2011 have come in evening fixtures, Rochdale in April and Walsall in March for instance, even when we dropped a point at Charlton it was an evening game.
The old joke used to be that two men were walking across the desert and one turned to the other and said "Saints Lost then", the other said "how do you know that stuck out in the desert ? " "Well its Saturday evening" came the reply.
That doesnt apply now and in terms of the league in over eight months since our defeat to Brentford in December we have won every Saturday fixture we have played bar those aforementioned two plus Notts County at home where we drew 0-0 back in January, that is of course league games only and not including the Saturday defeat against Man Utd in the FA Cup.
