Arsenal 3-1 Shrewsbury: Is Gazidis mental?

It has been all the rage this summer to question Arsene Wenger's sanity but after Ivan Gazidis impassioned defence of our manager, one has to question his state of mind.

It is a well known fact of football that as soon as you receive a vote of confidence from the board you are treading on water and that is exactly what Gazidis gave Wenger yesterday. To even respond to those who doubt Wenger's ability to manage suggests that the board believe those views have some foundation otherwise they wouldn't be worth responding to.

After a good comeback against Shrewsbury Arsene Wenger stated that he would like another 14 years at the club and the best way to ensure that is to ensure we start getting results on the pitch, nothing Ivan Gazidis can say will keep him in the job as if we are in the same position at Christmas the fans will force the manager out of the club, for the good of the club.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's goal and overall performance hinted at a promising future but everyone associated with the club will be hopeful that our new signings can gel quickly to ensure we can have some success this season, after all, the quadruple is on.
