Refwatch Preview: Crewe (a)

A Xmas Refwatch special for no other reason than it being Xmas. We look at the the referee for the trip to Crewe and do our usual research on him.

Oliver Langford’s first Football League game was our opening home league fixture of last term against Barnet.

I can’t recall too much in the way of controversy from Mr Langford that afternoon and it’s safe to say his league career to date has followed the same path

In total last season, he refereed 26 games, showing 58 yellow cards and three red. This season he has already shown 57 yellow cards and three red in just 17 fixtures, so Oliver is either flashing his cards around a lot more this term or has had more testing matches.

This season Mr Langford has also refereed at Championship level for the first time, most recently last Saturday when Sheffield Wednesday entertained Swansea.
