All the tube and train closures ahead of QPR’s Saturday trip to East London to face West Ham.

As ever, pretty tricky to give directions for a London fixture as QPR fans will be coming from here there and everywhere. For the out of towners driving in it’s junction 27 of the M25, then the southbound M11. When it divides to join the A406 North Circular take the A406 South turning, not the one to the city. Get in the two outside lanes and head south past Redbridge and llford. Leave the A406 at the Barking junction, and at the bottom of the slip round turn right on the third roundabout exit onto the Barking Road towards East Ham. Follow that road past East Ham Town Hall to the ground. The Barking Road does tend to be a nightmare after noon on a matchday and the guide (linked below) offers a few alternatives to consider.

Sodding nightmare. All the streets around the ground are residents only. Newham General Hospital has a pay and display car park -£2 for three hours, £4 for six – and that’s a 15 minute walk to the ground. If you are trying for street parking turn left off the Barking Road as you approach the ground.
The following tube and train closures are in place this weekend – although what will still be operating with all the snow that’s falling come morning time is anybody’s guess.
- District and Piccadilly Lines have closures in the Hammersmith and Acton Town area. The District Line has no service between West Kensington and Acton Town or Richmond with bus services in operation. There’s no Piccadilly Line between Hammersmith and Ealing Common or – for rolling stock reasons – Uxbridge and Rayners Lane. The advice is Metropolitan Line for the Uxbridge bit, or Central Line and District Line via Ealing Broadway. This is all for a bridge replacement near Gunnersbury which is also affecting the Overground from Richmond – no service as far as Willesden Junction.
- Jubilee Line – no trains from Stanmore to West Hampstead with replacement bus services.
- Metropolitan Line – no trains from Harrow-on-the-Hill to Aldgate. Additional Chiltern trains will run from Harrow to Marylebone.
- Northern Line – nothing on the High Barnet branch north of Camden Town, bus services operate instead.
Upton Park – Hammersmith and City Line and District Line – is the closest station to the ground but can be an absolute nightmare after games. Walking one stop further up the line to East Ham may well be advisable. Further afield is Plaistow on the same line, or Forest Gate on the mainline into Liverpool Street.
As ever for London fixtures, no coaches operated by either the club or the LSA for this one.
As ever for London games, QPR fans will drink far and wide and travel in later on. Liverpool Street is often popular for this fixture with Hammersmith and City Line and District Line trains from Liverpool Street or Aldgate to the ground. Pubs around the ground are generally for home fans only, the guide recommends the Millers Well Wetherspoons near East Ham Town Hall or the Duke of Edinburgh near Upton Park Tube.
QPR took a lower allocation for the fixture for reasons known only to themselves – 1,800 I believe – and no surprise that they were snapped up in double quick time.
