This is what Martin Burgess (Finacial Manager) sent to me today ..
Gary - please could you inform your readers that Marlene Phillips has very sadly passed away this morning?
This has been a major shock to everyone at the Club. She was working until Friday entirely as normal but was taken to hospital during the night with a suspected heart attack. Despite appearing much better and in excellent spirits, as always, on Sunday, she had a major attack in the early hours of this morning from which she did not recover.
Marlene had been with the Club for 21 years, initially washing the First Team kit during the Toshack era, then working in the shop since 1985. We all have our own personal memories of her and she will be greatly missed by all of us.
All our thoughts are with her husband John, daughter Jane and also with Myra, Joyce and Heather.
Click here if you would like to pay your respects.
Funeral arrangements are not yet known.
