Two In Two Days Snapped Up By Cusack

Home > Story Index >Two In Two Days For Cusack

Paul Reid and Matt Murphy will both join us from Bury on that date, with Reid being a left sided midfielder and Murphy a right sided player. Murphy played with Cusack at Oxford before moving to Bury last summer, a move that did not work out for him.
Speaking to the official site, Cusack said of Murphy "He's a solid and honest professional who will do a good job for us. He's a big lad, almost six foot, and he's a box-to-box player, who covers a lot of ground in 90 minutes. He's an attack minded midfielder, who has on occasions filled in up front for Oxford, to good effect. He's got a good goalscoring record for a midfielder, which comes from his knack of getting into the box at the right time. " He's got bags of experience, and knows what I expect, and he's another player whose career has been in Divisions One and Two prior to this move."
Talking after clinching the signing of Reid yesterday, Cusack said "

Paul is a very experienced player, who has spent the majority of his career in the First Division, and this will be the first time that he has ever played in Division Three. He is a very strong and determined character, who will give us that extra bite on the left hand side that we have been missing. He is very combative, and I think when the supporters see him in action, they'll take to him quickly.

" I think he'll do well here, he's certainly going to give us something extra that we were missing last year. He can deliver a quality ball into the box, and is good from set pieces."

These two players certainly seem to fit the bill in what we have been lacking and should fill the voids left by the recent departure of Jonathan Coates and also the void left when Robbo departed the club - one that we never filled last season. We can now see that the club is making moves in the transfer market and hopefully this will stand us in good stead next season for a better season on the pitch.
And it's still only May.......!
