Thomas To Sign Monday

James Thomas To Become A Jack

Home > Story Index >Thomas To Sign On Monday

The Blackburn forward will sign for his home town club, we believe on a one year deal although he had been looking for a two year. Thomas has also been targeted by Oxford this summer and would have joined there had he been unable to reach an agreement with the Swans over his wages.
Thomas has been at Blackburn since 1997, when he signed professional terms but during that period he has just one league start to his credit. He has three more substitute appearances to his credit with the Ewood Park outfit and one league goal. In total he has made just 35 professional appearances, 13 of them as a substitute and netted 7 goals.
He has spent time on loan at West Brom, Blackpool, Sheffield United and more recently Bristol Rovers where he finished last season. Thomas was born in Swansea in January 1979 and has represented his country at Under 21 level.
Thomas' last league goal came on the last day of last season as he scored Rovers only goal in their 2-1 defeat at Rochdale - how nice would it be if he could open season 2002/2003 with the only goal in a Swansea victory.
So we are ready for yet another new face at the Vetch come this time tomorrow and hopefully James will prove to be a valuable addition to the Swansea squad. Only time will tell but that will be 6 new faces in the space of a week as Cusack builds his squad ready for next season.
