Injury Problems Mount For Swansea

Already missing certain squad members, the Jacks have been dealt further blows today with injuries confirmed to Jason Smith, Andrew Mumford and Leigh De-Vulgt. De-Vulgt was stretchered off towards the end of Saturday's game with concussion and has been ruled out of both tomorrow's game at Stevenage and Saturday's trip to Carlisle.
Smith and Mumford though are out tomorrow but both hope to be fit in time for the clash of the bottom two on Saturday. Mumford suffered a dead leg during Saturday's win and Smith, recently returned from another long injury lay-off, has an injured joint in his shoulder. Physio Richie Evans is hopeful that both will make the long trip at the weekend.
With injury already ruling out Terry Evans, David Smith, Steve Watkin, Gareth Phillips and Neil Sharp, we are down to the bare bones on our squad and it is likely that Stuart Jones, will get his first team debut tomorrow night. The debate on the message board over the past day or so has been on whether we should play first team or reserves in this game but it appears that most of the fit professionals will be given the chance against the conference side.
Also ruled out for the game at the weekend is Michael Howard who serves a suspension for the accumulation of five yellow cards giving someone the chance to stake a claim for a permanent place in the left back berth. Paul Reid was another who has picked up his fifth yellow card on Saturday and he will be unavailable for the visit of Cambridge on November 2nd.
With injuries and suspensions mounting, Flynn will continue to look for possible additions to his squad and will be keeping his fingers crossed that we do not accumulate any more problems ahead of the crucial game on Saturday.
Stevenage are struggling in the conference at present in 18th place, having gained just 16 points from their 16 games to date and things do not look too good for a side that usually finds themselves in the higher reaches of the conference. However, just how much we are placing on this competition at the moment remains to be seen although my feelings are that we should be looking to build on Saturday's win and take this as an opportunity for 90 minutes to forget the league position.
I can see us winning but two sides struggling could produce an entertaining encounter and I take us to edge it by the odd goal in five. Ah well, we can but hope!!
