Maylett Rescues A Point For Disappointing Swans

Swansea 1 Rochdale 1

Ananova

A Brad Maylett strike 12 minutes from time rescued a point for Swansea in a 1-1 draw with Rochdale to keep their slender play-off hopes alive.

Brian Flynn's men found themselves a goal down when midfielder Leo Bertos put Rochdale ahead after 26 minutes.

But substitute Maylett pounced on 78 minutes when the visitors failed to clear their lines and maintained the Swans' four-game unbeaten run.

The hosts began the brighter but it was Steve Parkin's men who opened the scoring with their first shot on goal, Bertos smashing a low left-footed drive past goalkeeper Murphy.

And the visitors could have extended their lead only to find Murphy equal to efforts from Sean McClare and Kevin Townson.

The hosts upped the tempo after the restart but were left frustrated as Andy Robinson and Stuart Roberts squandered chances while Danny Lindsey cleared a Mark Pritchard effort off the line. But Rochdale's hard work was undone as Maylett fired home to keep the Swans in touch with the leading pack.
