Roberto: "It Won't Be Easy"

It's No Easy Ride........

Millwall were poised for a surge towards the play offs a few weeks back but consecutive defeats seem to have ended that hope especially as the play off chasing pack seem to continue to pick up points. And whilst seven wins on the bounce may see the Lions sneak in via one of the final play off spots, it seems unlikely and effectively they are planning for next season.

However, Roberto is all to aware of the errors that would be made if we assumed that Millwall would not be up for it on the pitch on Saturday and he is warning his players that it won't be an easy ride.

At this stage in the season there is no team playing for nothing." he told the Evening Post "Whatever league position a team is in, every single player plays for their own career. "People are looking for new contracts or to stake a claim for next year and there will be no easy game for us between now and the end of the season."

His side head to London for the first of back to back away wins that will include a trip to second placed Bristol City on Easter Saturday and they are two games that will shape their destiny come May 5th. Sitting comfortably just one point behind the play offs at the moment, the Swans have their destiny in their own hands thanks to Blackpool's defeat at Rotherham on Tuesday night. The Seasiders visit the Liberty Stadium on May 5th for what threatens to be a play off spot decider although there is every chance that the recent form of both sides could still see them move slightly higher in the league table than the currently coveted position of 6th.

"What's in our hands is our own performances and results, and the way we came back to beat Northampton gives us more confidence for the run-in." Martinez added "League positions at the moment guarantee nothing. "The table reflects the last nine months of the competition so we shouldn't pay too much attention to it. We just have to make sure we are in the play-offs on May 5."

And returning to the Liberty after the Easter Eggs have been opened with another 3 points or more in the bag would be a very welcome reward.
