Ugo Vallerio warns of the escalating cost of promotion
With less than seven weeks until the Swans open their season at Charlton, Vallerio warns that the cost of increased tickets and escalating fuel costs will hit fans in the pocket as they embark on a Championship challenge.
The Swans had an average away attendance of over 1,000 as they marched towards the League One title last season and that figure is expected to increase this season with more 'attractive' trips to places such as Hillsbrough, Wolves, Birmingham and of course Cardiff.
But for those that want to travel on a regular basis the warnings are that it won't be cheap as Ugo told the Evening Post "It's not going to be cheap to get into matches
"You're looking at an average increase of £3 or £4 per person per game next season.
"Last year, Leeds, Orient and Forest charged a lot, but this season Championship clubs will be charging us much more than last year.
"Last year we managed to keep prices low because we had a good relationship with the bus company
"We used them a lot so it was case of you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours."
"We've been lucky in the last few years that bus company prices have been kept low, but with fuel prices going up there's going to be a knock-on effect."
The Swans official away travelling support last season was 1,098, third in the division behind Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. The figures compared well to local rivals Cardiff City who had an average away support of 720.
