Operations For Swans Duo

Angel Rangel and Jason Scotland are both going under the surgeon’s knife but both will be fit and ready for the new season

Rangel underwent a hernia operation today whilst Scotland will fly to Germany for a minor stomach operation

"Angel's injury is a typical sportsman's hernia,'' explained Swans physio Richie Evans vas the official web site.

"He felt it towards the end of the season and that's why we pulled him out of a few games.

"The symptoms got better and we have tried to treat it conservatively over the summer. But when he stepped up his pre-season programme he started to feel it again.

"Surgery is always the last resort, but if everything goes ok he should be back for the first game of the season.

"Jason picked up a stomach strain around Christmas time,'' added Evans.

"We left him out for two weeks and when he came back it wasn't causing him a problem.

"But he felt the symptoms again over the summer and we felt it was best to have the operation.

"We aim to get him back in time for the trip to Spain later this month.''
