I'm Not Resigned To Derby County Signing Him
Roberto Martinez says he is not resigned to losing Ferrie Bodde for next season
Roberto Martinez has sent a defiant message to Derby County with his "I am not resigned to losing him" statement concerning Ferrie Bodde.
Bodde expressed a strong desire to head to Pride Park this week as they pulled out of the 'race' to sign the player. The race has only ever been one horse to date with interest from Middlesbrough and West Brom proving to be, so far, nothing more than paper talk.
And with Bodde's outburst it seemed that links with Swansea would become impossible any more with his criticism of the club's handling of the saga as well as his strong desire to continue his career in the East Midlands.
But Martinez will take Bodde to Sweden this week and told the News of the World "As far as I am concerned he is OUR player. If he's still with us next season that won't be a problem for me - as long as he proves he's hungry to play for Swansea CIty.
"He's had a lot of distractions but I'd rather have any distractions now in pre-season than later on.
"I won't hold anything against Ferrie. If he shows the strength and desire he showed last season there'll be no problem.
"I don't want him to go and I'm not resigned to losing him,"
