Pintado Desperate For Birmingham Start

Gorka Pintado is ready to take on high flying Birmingham tonight if he gets the chance ahead of Jason Scotland

The Swansea City striker is chomping at the bit for a league start and he may find that Friday night football at the Liberty gives him that chance if Roberto deems that Scotland is not fit enough.

Scotland has been away on international duty this week and although Roberto has said he will do everything he can to get him in the team there is serious doubt about his fitness following such a long trip in midweek.

That aside though Pintado insists that he his ready and up to the challenge should the nod come his way.

"I don't mind this job," he told the Evening Post.

"I can play as one or with another man up front. One striker sometimes is difficult because you come up against big boys. But I am a physical player and I enjoy that.

"I am ready to start now after having four injuries at the same time. I had groin, hamstring, back and pelvis injuries, but I am fully fit now.

"I hope to play against Birmingham. That will do me a lot of good.

"I need to score goals because I am a striker. I love scoring goals.

"I have enjoyed my time so far and I think I can score more goals for Swansea."
