Saints look set to be one of the biggest average attendances next season in League 1
Saints have just released their latest figures for season tickst sales and have revealed that in under 2 weeks they have already clocked up 8,700 sold as of start of business Wednesday 22nd July.
Last year 9,500 season tickets were sold by start of the season and all indications are that this figure will be smashed, with roughly 200 a day being sold at present last years figure should be passed by the beginning of next week.
Out of that 8,700 roughly 1,800 are new season tickets rather than renewals, meaning that 3/4 of last years holders are back again, but a late surge is expected in the next week as the deadline for season ticket holders to claim their seat arrives on Friday July 31st.
This also coincides with pay day at the end of the month for many so not only will Saints possibly see the renewal figure approach 100% but another surge in newcomers as excitement for the season builds.
Fans dont have to wait till they get paid though, with the clubs offer of splitting the payments into 5 via debit/credit card payments.
Comparing sales with other League 1 clubs David Luker reported that Millwall have sold 4,000 whilst Leeds figure is surprisingly low at 10,000, both figures of course being well short, even when combined of Norwich who have sold somewhere in the region of 18,000.
The average attendance last season in League 1 was 7,540 with the largest being the 32,214 that watched leeds V Northampton on the final day, if Saints had been in League 1 last year and sold 10,551 season tickets that would have been enough to have put them fourth in the average attendance league without selling a single matchday ticket, with Leeds, Charlton & Norwich all being down there with us, that wont be the case this time, but Saints should be guaranteed a top 4 placing at worst.
Of the 24 clubs in last years league 1 all but 4 had an average crowd of less than 10k and 13 clubs 5840 or less, the top 4 being
