Jackett: No Swans Bid For Whitbread

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett insists that the Lions haven't received any new bids for defender Zak Whitbread

25 year old Whitbread is on the transfer list at the New Den, after expressing his desire to leave to play in the Championship.

The Houston born defender wants to play at a higher level in order to enhance his chances of playing in the World Cup in 2010.

Last week, the Evening Post suggested that Sousa was ready to make a move for the Millwall man, after Peterborough pulled out of a £750k deal due to the player's high wage demands, but Jackett says that there have been no fresh offers for the centre half.

"Peterborough made an offer and got some way down the road towards accepting that and agreeing it, but it has broken down on his personal terms," Jackett said.

"I believe now that the interest is dead and we have had no other bids for him during the course of this summer."

"It's something I've always aspired to (playing in the Championship)," said Whitbread.

"I need to step up to that level and try and prove myself there, especially with the World Cup next year for the States. That level I think is a lot more recognised."
