Easter - I Support Arsenal Not Cardiff

Jermaine Easter knows he will take some stick from Swans fans but wants to concentrate on the job in hand

And Easter admits that despite his Cardiff roots he is an Arsenal fan ahead of the Bluebirds.

Easter sparked fury when he celebrated a Wycombe goal by doing the Ayatollah in front of the Swans fans four years ago but hne has now put that behind him even if he understands that some supporters have not done so.

“I’m sure I’ll get a bit of stick from a couple of fans,” he told Wales on Sunday.

“You do things when you are young and stupid, but I am sure a bit of hard graft and a few goals will make them forget about that.

“I’m not a Cardiff fan, I’ve always supported Arsenal, so it was a bit of strange one.

“It was more for my mates than it was for me.

“That’s all in the past now, I’m a Swansea player and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’ve been badgering my agent to speak to Brendan for a while now and the opportunity arose on Wednesday. By Thursday I was signed

“It’s a massive opportunity for me and I’m here to make it permanent.

“I watched the game against Cardiff and I thought they completely dominated the game.

“I remember sitting on the sofa with my wife and saying that I would love to play in that team with all the chances they get.

“The lads play some great stuff and hopefully I can be on the pitch to finish off some of the great opportunities they create.

“The two wingers have impressed me massively, and Joe Allen in the midfield.

“They play with a high percentage of possession. So it is about me playing a bit of cat-and-mouse with the centre-half so I get chances.

“When I was at my most prolific it was in the same kind of system last season at MK Dons, so it is something I can hopefully slip into.

“As soon as I’m fit I’ll be raring to go.

“There are a lot of quality players here and I am thoroughly looking forward to it,” he said.

“I can’t wait to get going, but I don’t think I’m under pressure to perform here.

“For me, I’ve got to knuckle down get some goals and hopefully turn it into a longer deal.

“I’ve played in the Championship with Plymouth and it’s a league I always keep an eye on.

“I feel I am more than capable of playing at this level.”
