Back QPR to win, but BTTS — betting

If you’re struggling to find value in QPR winning another home game against Blackburn this weekend, then add in a goal scoring element — according to our resident pundits.

Andy Hillman

Another four winners for me last time, all at evens or better, as Newcastle beat West Brom (20/19), QPR beat Bournmouth to nil (11/8) Bale scored against Valladolid (evens) and there were less than two goals in Norwich vs Palace (a nice 9/4 shot). The Doncaster result was pretty disappointing though, as was Roma drawing for the fourth consecutive match.

NAP of the week: Chelsea to beat Stoke with a -1 handicap @ 13/8

It’s good to see Mark Hughes bringing his meticulous planning to Stoke. A single win in their last 11 games has seen them plummet down the league, and the natives are even more restless than they usually are. Chelsea, despite not hitting top form, are getting results and scoring goals in the process - 11 in their last four league games, with Hazard in top form. Chelsea should score at least two here, and I don’t see Stoke scoring at all...

QPR related bet: QPR to win & BTTS @ 3/1

Blackburn are a wildly inconsistent side, notching up results as different as beating in form Leeds on the Saturday, and then losing poorly to Ipswich on the Tuesday. In Jordan Rhodes they’ve got arguably the best striker in the league, who has scored half of their goals this season, but they cannot put any sort of run together. They have only won once away from home all season, at Bournemouth, so QPR should be looking for a win here, but in Rhodes they have enough firepower to beat Green at least once...

Man Utd vs Newcastle — Lay Man Utd @ 9/5

The tough games keep on coming for David Moyes, who, when picking a fixture to bounce back from the Everton home defeat, would probably not picked a match against Newcastle in one of their ‘on’ seasons. Man Utd can’t even call on ‘Fortress OId Trafford’ this season, having only won three of their seven league games there. Newcastle were pretty ropey last time out in a meek 3-0 defeat at Swansea, but they won their previous four games on the spin, and a can smell blood here. Throw in Rooney’s suspension and RVP not really fit (although probably forced into action here...) and laying Man United at nearly 2/1 looks like a massive value bet, if only from a trading and cashing out standpoint.

FA Cup: Cambridge United vs Sheffield United — Cambridge win @ 5/2

Cambridge, top of the Conference, vs Sheffield United, near the bottom of League One has all the hallmarks of a ‘giant killing’. Throwing some figures out there, Cambridge are clean sheet specialists that put QPR to shame - 16 in 22 this season. They have won all 11 games at home this season, eight of them to nil. Sheffield United have arrested the spectacularly bad early season form, but are still leaking goals from everywhere, barely keeping a clean sheet all season, and absolutely abysmal away from Bramall Lane. With staying and moving up in League One an undoubtable priority, Cambs to win at 5/2 appeals massively.

Italian Treble — Juve, AC Milan & Napoli to win @ 7/2

I haven’t done an accumulator for a while now, but this little treble from Serie A looks like a pretty decent shout. All three have relatively easy games, vs Bologna, Livorno and Udinese respectively. Juventus are in their standard ‘crush all before them’ form, whereas Milan have arrested their slump and face a Livorno side who can’t do anything other than concede repeatedly. Napoli vs Udinese is the marginal game of the three, but Udinese are awful away from home, and Napoli have bounced back from recent setbacks and are strong at home.

The Pro

Two winners last week, with QPR struggling to score at Doncaster while Carlisle’s Sean O’Hanlon bagged in defeat at Swindon — 16/1 that one.

QPR take on Blackburn this weekend and the equation is simple: both teams are performing below their potential but Rangers, unlike Blackburn, are still getting results. It's going to be a midfield battle which I expect QPR to win. I can't get involved at 8/11 though so I'm taking a chance on them to start fast again and my recommended bet is QPR to be winning at half time at 13/10 (General)

Elsewhere I'm going for a monster priced bet of the week and if comes in the FA Cup match at Home Park where Neal Trotman will look to add to his tally from centre half where he has looked a massive danger in recent weeks and against the minnows of Welling can be backed at 16/1 to score anytime.

Bet of weekend: Neal Trotman to score anytime - Plymouth v Welling 16/1 William Hill.
