Draw can yield returns with Reading in W12 - betting

Another two decent-priced winners for Andy Hillman last time out, and LFW’ resident pundit is back to look ahead to another weekend of football action, and QPR v Reading.

Andy Hillman

Another fortnight gap between columns due to the random nature of QPR fixtures at present — but the QPR score draw vs Burnley, and Leicester inevitably winning yielded another couple of good wins...

NAP of the Week — Sheffield United vs Nottm Forest — Forest to win @ 13/10
Not sure if you’ve heard or not, but Nottingham Forest will, alongside Leicester, Burnley and Derby, finish on at least 100 points this season. Unbeaten in their last 16 or so games, they are undoubtedly in terrific form, and are treating the FA Cup pretty seriously. 13/10 seems huge against a League 1 team.

QPR related bet — QPR vs Reading — Back both 0-0 and 11 @ 9/1 & 13/2.

Seriously, who puts this turgid nonsense on television? This will be four games in row that QPR vs Reading has been on TV, and the previous three have all been either 1-1 or 0-0 borefests, and this one is shaping up the same way. Match to be drawn is 12/5, but if you back both 0-0 and 1-1 at 13/2, you get a better return if either one comes in. And if it comes in as 2-2 or 3-3 draw I’ll eat assorted headwear...

Bournemouth vs Burnley — Burnley win @ 7/5

Burnley have up until recently been exceptional at home, but mediocre away — for a team in second in the league they went through an extended period of not winning away from home. However, they have started picking up points on the road again, with two wins in their last three, and the thrilling 3-3 draw against us a couple of weeks back. Bournemouth are holding their own in the league, but whilst Vokes and Ings are fit and amongst the goals, you’d be a fool to back against, especially at 7/5

Roma vs Sampdoria — Roma win to nil @ 13/10

If QPR is my wife, then Roma is my mistress, and this season, my mistress is outpointing my wife in the ‘person I’d like to spend time with’ scale. Roma still boast the best home defensive record in Europe, with only two goals conceded at the Olimpico in the league all season. A Roma win to nil at home has landed in eight of their 11 home games, and better than evens against a Sampdoria side that have already lost away from home against four of the current top six looks value.

Fiorentina vs Inter — Fiorentina to win @ 21/20

The game of the weekend in Serie A sees fourth vs fifth. That stat is slightly misleading however, as Inter in fifth are simply currently at the top of the ‘also-ran piles’, as gulfs in not only points but also class separate the top four from the rest of the league. That Inter have only won one win in six, against near bottom Sassulo, and yet still be in fifth in the league is surprising. That Fiorentina are better than evens at home against Inter, despite having won five of their last six at home, with Inter losing their last four in a row away from home, is even more surprising. Lump on.
