Nicky Shorey was frustrated by Pompey's inability to beat Cheltenham - but said the Blues were going in the right direction and were looking forward to playing on better pitches.
Speaking after the goalless draw, he told the Pompey website: 'There wasn’t a lot in the game and it probably wasn’t great for the fans to watch. It was frustrating for us as well.
'It was a pretty even game and I don’t think either side deserved to win it. The whole team are contributing towards the clean sheets and now we need to make sure we’re getting it right at the other end of the pitch.
'We need a bit more quality and if we can put the two things together then we can march up the league. We’ve made quite a bit of progress and it’s never going to be easy when you bring so many new players in.
'The conditions haven’t been great either and hopefully the pitches will get better as we approach the end of the season. We’re getting there slowly and it doesn’t happen overnight. We’re working hard on the training ground and I’m sure we’ll get to where we want to be.'
Pompey host Burton on Tuesday night.
0-0 with Cheltenham? Does it make Burton a must-win game?
