Richie Barker pointed to Pompey's tight home defensive record as he prepared to welcome old team-mate Nigel Worthington and York to Fratton Park.
Pompey may have failed to score themselves in their last two outings on home soil but they are averaging only one goal conceded in every four home games in recent times.
Barker will send his men into battle against the Minstermen knowing they are in fine form but told the club website: 'We’ve lost just one of our last eight home games and conceded only two goals in that time.
'We are making Fratton Park a tougher place to come and a large part of that is down to the crowd. If we can continue to be tough to score against and also improve at the other end then we can climb the table.
'Our aim is to finish as high as we can and also with momentum to take into next season.'
New loan signing Rhys McCabe is set for his debut while Ben Chorley could return.
