£50 Up For Grabs For The Best New Saints Song

A member of The Ugly Inside message board community hedgeend61 is fed up with the lack of quality new songs in the repertoire so he has decided to do something about it.

Certain teams have some great songs, anyone who has heard Liverpool fans belt out a version of Scouser Tommy or Fields of Anfield Road to name but two examples from their song book or even Manchester United's varied output will know what I mean.

But in the main for the rest of us its about churning out the same songs that everyone else sings and just changing a few lyrics along the way.

hedgeend61 is hacked off with this and wants to change our culture and get the Northam End singing something a little more original every week, something that pertains only to Saints with original lyrics and with a tune that hasn't already been recycled by every other team in the league already.

This means that there needs to be a little thinking to be done.

In order to encourage those budding songwriters amongst you he is willing to put up a cash prize of £50 and for the best four runners up there will be an Ugly Inside T Shirt up for grabs.

The rules of the competition are simple.

1. The song & lyrics need to be original and not in common usage (Obviously the tune itself has to be well known, just not used before)

2. The competition closes on Monday June 9th at midnight.

3. The judges decision is final

4. hedgeend61 is putting up the £50 prize and we take no responsibility if he doesn't pay up lol

5. All entries must be posted on the official thread on the Ugly Inside message board

6. Other rules may be made up along the way.

7. The winning song must be about the club rather than individual players, although legends from the past can be incorporated, but the idea is a song that will last over the years.
