Ticket and travel details for Burton Albion

The ground hoppers among the QPR support have a chance to tick off Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium next Wednesday night as the R's head there in the second round of the League Cup.

Ground Name: Pirelli Stadium

Capacity: 6,912 (2,034 Seated)

Address: Pirelli Stadium, Burton Upon Trent , Staffs, DE13 0AR

By Car

A couple of ways you can do this — roughly 140 miles and two hours 30 minutes from Loftus Road at the speed limit. You can either go up the M1 to junction 22 and then take the second exit onto the A511 signposted to Ashby and Coalville. Follow that into Burton and then turn right at the junction with the A5121 signposted for Burton North. Follow that road and the ground should appear on your left after the McDonalds.

Alternatively you can head out of London on the M40, joining the M42 northbound at junction 3a and then using the M6 toll road to join the northbound A38. Use that road to effectively bypass the whole of Burton before then coming back onyourself by joining the A5121 heading back into town and this time the ground should appear on your right.

Parking

Not a problem here. A large car park at the ground apparently only charges £2, with all the associated problems of getting away afterwards. There's the nearby Ryknild Trading Estate which people also use without restriction, and then there's street parking aside from that as well. So you shouldn't go short.

Burton have disabled car park spaces available for registered blue badge holders priced £2 in the main car park. These can be pre booked by calling 01283 565 938

Train

Burton sits on the cross-country line between Derby and Birmingham New Street giving you several options by rail — although all of them necessitate an overnight stay because you can't get back afterwards, even without the threat of extra time.

Option one is East Midlands Trains from St Pancras up to Derby and then across to Burton on either the Cross Country or local services. Lots of £23 single tickets for people travelling out of London mid-afternoon — 13.26 arrives 15.24 with a change at Derby . Much more expensive thereafter of course. Coming back the following day try leaving Burton at 10.19, arriving back at 12.30 for £30 — you have to wait until the 13.48 departure to get the £23 tickets back.

Option two is the London Midland service from Euston to Tamworth, where you can change onto the northbound Cross Country and local service to Burton . If you get the 13.46 service from Euston you can change at Tamworth and be into Burton at 15.47 for a tenner. Little bit dearer going back, the 11.22 on Thursday, arrives into Euston at 13.33 for £21, or go at 13.25 and arrive back at 15.34 for £11.

Option three is a train from London to Birmingham — and remember the Chiltern Trains from Marylebone to Snow Hill are so much cheaper — and then a service from New Street to Burton . Plenty of £6 tickets from Marylebone to Birmingham and back again available on both days at a variety of times, and there are £6.20 singles between Birmingham New Street and Burton available in advance as well, so there and back for £24 essentially.

Burton train station is around a mile and a half from the ground. As you come out of the station turn left and go down the hill. Turn right into Derby Road and from there it is a straight road up to the stadium. It should take about 25 minutes to walk.

Coach

The official club coach leaves Loftus Road at 15.00 and picks up at the Target Roundabout at 15.30. The price is £32 for adults, £21 for disabled, seniors and under 21s, and £19 for under 16s. Season ticket holders get £2 off their fare.

LFW's own Mel Huckridge is also hoping to run a bus and will make a decision today based on interest. The price would be £25 with half price for kids and OAPs and pick ups will be made along the M1 junctions after leaving Greenford and Northolt at about 3.30. E-mail Mel ASAP melh64@hotmail.co.uk if you're interested.

Tickets

With a Bank Holiday weekend ahead it seems odd that the club have left it this late to put tickets on sale, and any bought after noon on Saturday will apparently be held for collection at the ticket window behind the away end.

Rangers have 381 seats priced £18 adults, £16 seniors and young adults, and £8 juniors. There are 1,250 terrace tickets priced £15 adults, £13 seniors and young adults and £5 for juniors.

Ambulant disabled are priced as above, wheelchair spaces must be booked directly from Burton .

These are on sale to supporters with 100 loyalty points from tomorrow, 30 loyalty points from Friday (both at 10.00) and then a general sale from Saturday at 09.00.
