New deal can help drive Pompey forward

Pompey have welcomed on board The World Of Cars as new sponsors of the North Stand. The World Of Cars is a subsidiary of The Car Finance Company, a local business whose head office is based in North End, and who are a major local employer in the City.

The Car Finance Company was founded in 2007 by local businessman Mark Smith and has rapidly grown into Europe’s leading alternative finance provider. They serve a sector of the community ordinarily excluded from mainstream financing. In 2013 they continued their expansion by opening two used car dealerships in both Hilsea and the Isle of Wight under the new brand name The World Of Cars.

The lucrative sponsorship is a two-year deal, which will enable the company to create brand awareness for not only their used car dealership business, but also for their alternative financing business.

The World Of Cars will be providing a range of fantastic deals for fans to benefit from, including great offers on used cars and market leading finance products tailored to each customer’s individual needs.

The North Stand is the largest stand at Fratton Park, holding around 9000 fans, and was built in 1934 and substantially renovated in the late 1990s. The stand will be re-branded over the coming weeks.

Portsmouth FC’s CEO Mark Catlin said: "It great to be signing up The World Of Cars as one of our major club sponsors for the next two years. We are very much looking forward to building a strong and long-term partnership, which will be mutually beneficial to both parties.

"This sponsorship is testament to the fact that the club is now attracting new corporate partners who want to play a part in driving the club forward to achieve a sustainable future for all stakeholders.”

Mark Smith, Founder and Managing Director of The Car Finance Company and its subsidiaries said: "This is an incredibly proud moment for the company and myself. Being an employee owned enterprise based in Portsmouth, with the majority of our staff being local residents; we have deep connections with the city and its people.

"Having started from a spare bedroom in Southsea to now partnering with Portsmouth FC, it’s an exciting time for us all. We’re looking forward to being a part of the promising future of Portsmouth FC and giving back to the fans and community who have helped The Car Finance Company get to where it is today.”

Anna Mitchell, Head of Sponsorship and Commercial Partnerships at Pompey, added: "The Car Finance Company and The World Of Cars have similar values to ours as a community football club and we are delighted to have them on board.

"Getting a high-profile business to buy-in to what we are trying to achieve here at Pompey is a real coup and we are sure it will prove a great deal for both parties. Not only that, the agreement will mean we will be able to offer our fans some amazing deals on used cars and tailored finance options."
