Ayew's Delay To Swans Start

Andre Ayew is believed to not be present on Sunday when the squad report back for pre-season with Garry Monk believed to have given him an extended summer.

It is quite normal for players who have had extended seasons to be given slightly longer to recover but Ayew will be here by the time the Swans head to Germany in mid July for some pre-season fixtures.

Ghana Soccer Net is reporting that Ayew will not arrive in South Wales just yet "because Ayew spent most of the summer break trying to sort out his future and has only just started his holidays in Ghana"

The Swans have been praised highly for the capture of such a highly rated player and beat off competition from other Premier League clubs to gain his signature two weeks ago.

Ayew will add a completely different attacking option to the Swans and it is right that he should get extra time if this is what Garry Monk believes is what is needed. I suspect that a few of our squad may have lighter duties for a while with the likes of Fab, Gylfi, Ash and Tayls all not long having finished international duty and Jefferson Montero being another one having just finished his stint with Ecuador in the Copa America.
