Swans, Nottingham Forest And Hull Chasing Southend Keeper?

If there was one more piece of business for the Swans to do this summer it would be the securing of a third choice goalkeeper which they will need should anything happen injury or suspension wise to either Fab or Nordfeldt.

Since the summer release of both Gerhard Tremmel and David Cornell the Swans have been on a hunt for a keeper and recently had former Arsenal goalkeeper Josh Vickers on trial but that seems to have come to nothing.

So you can see a logic when the papers are linking you with a move for Southend play-off hero Daniel Bentley. Bentley saved two penalties in the play-off final last year to earn Southend promotion at the expense of Wycombe and that has attracted some interest from clubs this summer.

Hull are reported to have already put in a £1m bid for the keeper and Nottingham Forest - with only really former Swans keeper Dorus De Vries on the books - are also reported to be interested.

I can see a logic in this story but I just cannot see it happening. The Swans are looking for a keeper who will be happy being close to the first team squad but only even on the bench in a case of emergency so it doesn't seem logical that Bentley would even consider a Swans move when more first team action is likely at either Hull or Newcastle.

It has always been a little surprising that both Tremmel and Cornell were let go at the end of the season. We were always going to want some serious competition for Fab but either of those could have performed the third choice keeper role if needed (assuming of course that they were happy to do so)

The search for me goes on and whilst I like the sound of a Bentley deal I just cannot see it happening.
