QPR loan Cole to Oxford

Reserve team keeper Jake Cole has joined Conference outfit Oxford United on loan for the first three months of the 2008/09 season.

Rangers have a growing relationship with the U’s after Stefan Bailey and Kieren St Aimee both spent time on loan at the Kassam Stadium last season although a proposed friendly between the sides this summer fell through because of a wedding taking place at Oxford’s ground on the same day.

Cole impressed Rangers fans with a couple of impressive performances under John Gregory at the end of the 2006/07 season but with Lee Camp ever present last season he failed to make an appearance and has been forced further down the pecking order by the arrival of Radek Cerny this summer.

Iain Dowie told the club's official website: "Jake has returned in good shape and is a great lad to have around the squad but at his age he needs to be playing competitive matches."

The 22 year old has made eight first team appearances for QPR and previously spent time out on loan at Farnborough and Hayes since graduating from our youth set up.
