Agyemang returns to Ghana squad

QPR striker Patrick Agyemang has been recalled to the Ghana squad for the first time in two years for their forthcoming friendlies and World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana participated in the World Cup finals in Germany in 2006 but Agyemang has not been part of the squad since a friendly with Mexico just before that tournament. He has three caps to his name and scored within three minutes of coming on for his debut against Nigeria in 2003.

He is yet to get off the mark for Rangers this season either in competition action or friendlies but bagged nine goals in 17 appaearances at at the end of last season, including an incredible run of eight goals from his first six league games, and that has been enough to secure his place in the squad.

Ghana play Tanzania in a friendly next Wednesday and then face Libya on September 6 and Lesotho on October 12 as the build up to the South African World Cup begins.

Yesterday Damien Delaney (Ireland) and Kaspars Gorkss (Latvia) were also called up to represent their countries.
